Prior to joining APPMA, Cavanaugh was the Young Monadnock Cares Coordinator for the Monadnock Volunteer Center.She secured cooperation of local agencies to make volunteer opportunities available to the youth and designed publicity and other community relations functions in conjunction with Monandock Volunteer Center and the United Way Staff.

Cavanaugh earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from Keene State College in Keene, NH.
