Biotechnology Institute Names Mary Cassoni of Invitrogen to Board
Arlington, Va. (November 30, 2004) - The Biotechnology Institute, the national organization dedicated to biotechnology education, today named Mary J. Cassoni, vice president of Corporate Communications at Carlsbad, Calif.-based Invitrogen Corporation, to its board of directors. Cassoni's appointment adds additional strength to the board, which is comprised of some of the most prominent leaders in biotechnology.

Cassoni was appointed to her current position at Invitrogen in 2003. Since joining the life sciences technology company in 1995, Cassoni has held a number of senior positions, including director of Investor Relations and director of Sales and Training. Prior to joining Invitrogen, Cassoni was with Stratagene, a biotechnology firm in La Jolla, Calif. Additionally, Cassoni serves on the advisory board for the Cal State San Marcos Biotechnology Laboratory Technician Certificate Program and High Tech High School in San Diego. She is also an adjunct faculty member at Palomar College in San Diego, and is involved with Volunteer San Diego and Project Concern, a program that provides immunizations for children around the world who lack access to healthcare services.
