Upon his appointment to the Yonkers Police Department on September 24,1965 with an annual salary of $5,880 a year, Cassino was assigned to walk a foot post in the 4th precinct. In the spring of 1969 he was detailed to work as an undercover narcotics officer and was placed on "loan" to the New Rochelle P.D. to make undercover narcotic "buys". Over a four month period he was very successful and as a result, multiple narcotic related arrests were made.
