Our oldest son Jimmy was the first child to benefit from the Interactive Metronome.

Jimmy was born with multiple birth defects including compromise to his breathing which required oxygen for over two years and a feeding tube directly into his stomach from his inability to swallow solid food. He had no right leg below the knee, dislocated hips and missing ligaments in his left leg.

By eight years old, Jimmy was able to awkwardly move about with the help of a prostheses and a walker. He suffered from severe motor skill, coordination and balance impairments and could only go a few steps without falling.

Then we met Jim Cassily, the inventor of the Interactive Metronome (IM). Jimmy's piano teacher recommended that we see Jim, a former record producer and engineer, who developed the IM to improve musical performance.

    That meeting changed our lives.

Unconsciously utilizing the IM guidance sounds, Jimmy quickly learned to tap his feet without holding on to anything to maintain his balance. He developed the ability to plant his forward foot and shift his weight right on the IM's reference beat while walking back and forth across the basement.

After 17 IM training sessions, Jimmy dramatically walked without his walker for the first time. Soon, he was playing soccer and basketball with his brothers. His fine motor skills – such as writing and coloring – improved greatly and his academic progress jumped a full grade level.

Today, Jimmy is an active fourteen-year old and an honors student.

After years as an executive with some of the world's largest companies, I have chosen to dedicate my talents to fostering the potential of the Interactive Metronome. My hope is that the IM may benefit children and families everywhere.
