   Founded by Tom Cassidy as the American Seafood Company in 1979, Cassidy Fine Foods is a Memphis-based distributor of seafood, meats, and specialty food items. A family owned and run company, Cassidy's long history of providing the highest quality food products for its clients rests on its founder's personal dedication. As a scuba diving instructor, Cassidy had spent time in the coastal regions appreciating the luxury of fresh seafood. He decided to start the American Seafood Company so residents of the area around his inland hometown of Memphis could enjoy fresh seafood too. With the contacts he had made with seafood companies through his scuba travels, Cassidy began working with area restaurants to get fresh seafood on their menus, and the rest is history.
   
   Eventually, American Seafood Company merged with several other Memphis area specialty food suppliers to form a fine food marketing group, and Cassidy Fine Foods was born. Today, various thriving specialty food companies operate under the Cassidy Fine Foods umbrella, each offering a set of high-quality products to enhance the total operation. Cassidy employs nearly 100 workers, does business in seven states, and boasts a product line of more than 1,100 specialty food items including choice meats, rare gourmet items, seafood, and much more.
