Richard Cassidy is a modern-day voyageur and the founder of the American Voyageur Enterprises. Richard started giving Lewis and Clark interpretive presentations at Washington's Paradise Point State Park during the summer of 2000. Since 2002, he has given summertime Lewis and Clark interpretive presentations at Washington's Beacon Rock State Park and the Army Corps of Engineer's Bonneville Dam. Richard also attended the Corps of Engineers' Lewis and Clark Academy in 2002. Richard's pen and ink art was published in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, "The Lewis and Clark Expedition, 1803 to 1806, A Portrait of Army Leadership."
Starting in 2004, he has also given Lewis and Clark interpretive presentation at the Memaloose State Park for the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department.
Richard is a Professional Tour Guide certified by the National Association for Interpretation. He is a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award and was inducted into the Marquis Who's Who in the West.
Richard is an experienced bus driver who holds an Oregon Class B commercial driver license, with air brake and passenger endorsements for vehicles with up to 84 people capacity. He also has current First Aid/CPR training.
By trade he was a water resources professional with an intense interest in river history. He had 35 years of water resources experience spanning the nation from the Allagash, St. John, and Connecticut rivers of New England to the Rogue, Willamette, and Columbia rivers in the Pacific Northwest. He also was a member of the Portland District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Lewis and Clark Bicentennial Committee.
