   Shadford Jr. ,Richard J., 83, of Randolph, died December 24, in the Gifford Medical Center. He was born Dec. 25, 1919, in Denver, Colo., the son of Richard J. and Maude (Marshall) Shadford. He graduated from Purdue University with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was a member of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. He was married to Margaret Ryder for 51 years, until her death in 1995. They lived in Granby, Conn., where he was active in many civic committees. He was a member of the South Congregational Church.
