Jon Cassidy: Operations Director - South America
After graduating from the University of Sheffield with an honours degree in Philosophy and Spanish (a 'respectable' 2:1), Jon made full use of his degree by working over the summer as a kitchen hand in a restaurant in Mallorca! Realising this wasn't his life calling, he joined Quest Overseas as a South American Project Leader in December 1998 and has never looked back. He became Operations Manager for South America in 1999 and has since overseen over 20 projects and expeditions, five of which he has led himself. He was made Operations Director in 2001 and now lives the high life, with flash cars, endless dinner parties and holidays in the Caribbean - yeah right! His passion for travel was ignited by his parents who carted him round the globe as a youngster, including living for 4 years in the Bahamas, for which he is eternally grateful. His passion for South America was first inspired by his own gap year, where he spent 12 months in Chile working as Project Trust volunteer, and was then reinforced by his university placement year, which he spent working as a park ranger in the Chilean Patagonia and as a jungle guide in the Peruvian Amazon He has UK Mountain Leader Training, Wilderness Medical Training and dances a mean salsa, -
