Frank Cassidy (21st Century Frank) is a practicing attorney in Machias after nearly 20 years of working out of Franklin. He is president of the Washington County Bar Association and vice president of the board of directors of the Washington County Children's Program. He helped write the bylaws as a charter member for the just-formed Machias Historical Society and was part of the planning group for the first Margaretta Days festival, also in Machias. The festival on June 10-12 celebrated the first naval battle of the Revolutionary War on June 12, 1775. As a result of that involvement and as a longtime Civil War reenactor with the 20th Maine group, he is now looking toward forming a Revolutionary War re-enactment group Down East. He is married to Katherine Cassidy, the Machias and Washington County report for the Bangor Daily News. He has two sons George and Charles. Frank (Union soldier at Gettsburg). (Brevet) Second Lt. Francis J. Cassidy, 20th Maine Volunteer Infantry Regiment Company B, Machias, Maine, recently returned from the Battlefields of Gettysburg, PA. 30 June -July 1863. His topic was: Maine at Gettysburg-How Maine contributed to the victory at Gettysburg in 1863. Maine was well represented with 15 units. Mr. Cassidy focused on Maine's 16th which had two men from Ellsworth serving.
