Born on September 25, 1969, in Randolph, Vermont, Christopher Cassidy brings a vast blend of knowledge and experience to his role at Pretzel & Stouffer, Chartered.
In the fall of 1991, as a diligent student at Vermont Law School, Mr. Cassidy not only concentrated his studies in intellectual property, trademarks, copyrights and privacy issues, but also participated in the school's pilot General Practice Program.While maintaining a full academic schedule at VLS, he clerked full-time for Mayer & Mayer in South Royalton, Vermont.During his employment there, Mr. Cassidy was instrumental in drafting the winning Supreme Court brief in the matter of Grimes v. Grimes, 159 Vt. 399 (1992).It concerned a landmark family law decision permitting fluidity in modification of child support awards based on changed economic circumstances.Upon graduation and passage of the Vermont bar in 1995, Mr. Cassidy worked as an associate attorney for Mayer & Mayer, concentrating in the fields of family law, real estate and bankruptcy.
In August of 1996, Mr. Cassidy relocated to Chicago, Illinois to begin a 7-year tenure as a writer-analyst/legal editor for the publishing firm of CCH, Inc.From 1997 through 2000, he was the Laws Editor for the Blue Sky Law Reporter.Additionally, Mr. Cassidy created, maintained and acted as sole editor for the Insurance Securities Law Reporter from 2000 to 2003.
Since returning to the practice of law in Illinois in 2003, Mr. Cassidy has hands-on practice experience in the fields of insurance defense, products liability law, urban planning and zoning law, construction law and mechanics liens.
He received his B.A., cum laude, from Harvard University in 1991, where he was an English and American Literature and Language studies major with an interest in Middle English poetry and Arthurian/Grail folklore. -
