MERIDEN -- Cecelia E. Cassidy, 84, of Meriden, wife of the late William J. Cassidy, died Thursday, June 10, 2004, at Hartford Hospital.
Born May 17, 1920, in Meriden, she was the daughter of the late Ignatius and Anna Gawlak Erasmus. A lifelong resident, she attended local schools and was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church. Cecelia retired from the R.C. Knox Insurance Co. of Hartford. She was an active member of the Meriden Council of Catholic Women. Cecelia loved to garden; she was a good cook and an avid reader. Most important, she was dedicated to her family and her grandchildren.
She is survived by her two sons and a daughter-in-law, William J. Cassidy and his wife, Darcy, of Southington, and Thomas J. Cassidy of Berlin; two daughters and their husbands, Barbara Brooks and Walter of Durham, Patricia Rutledge and Raymond of Meriden; a brother, Frederick Erasmus of South Carolina; a sister, Henrietta Sulik of Meriden; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Cecelia was predeceased by two infant sons, five brothers and four sisters.
Her funeral will be held at 9:15 a.m. Monday, June 14, from the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church, Meriden.
