CDS began with a group of parents like Gene, who desired better services for their children with developmental disabilities. Seeking to ensure that quality services would always be available for their children, no matter what their ages, these parents joined together to form CDS, a non-profit, private organization. CDS opened its first community residence in 1978 and now offers residential services to meet a wide variety of needs. In addition, CDS provides clinical and family support services as well as employment services to prepare participants for a job within the community.
Gene continues to be involved with CDS and the real estate industry. He enjoys spending time with his wife, their two children and four grandsons.
