    When the conceptual plans on Daufuskie were drawn in the early 1980s it was determined that the Webb tract would provide the central hub of island activity, said Ben Cassarino of Plantation Land Properties, owner of both the Webb and Oak Ridge tracts.It was an obvious move, he said, given that the 730-acre parcel enjoys extensive frontage on the Intracoastal Waterway.

    While plans for the tract remain in flux, the company favors a community center or "village" concept that is open to the public and provides island residents with basic living needs, Cassarino said.
