Kathryn E. Cassano
Kathryn Cassano joined Bonne, Bridges, Mueller, O'Keefe & Nichols' Los Angeles office in 2000. Ms. Cassano's practice at the firm is primarily focused on medical malpractice, however, she has experience in the areas of business law, employment law, taxation and bankruptcy.
Before realizing her true calling as a lawyer, Ms. Cassano, owned and operated several small businesses. She also formed a successful non-profit organization dedicated to increasing parks and green space in the community.
Ms. Cassano, received her Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of California, Irvine in 1987.
In her current practice, she readily uses the skills she developed before becoming a lawyer. When analyzing loss of earnings claims, having discussions with expert economists, or deposing plaintiff's accountants, she readily uses her skills from her previous work as an accountant and tax prepare to ferret out the real numbers. When drafting documents or discussing a case, her ability to put the proper "spin" on the facts is enhanced by her skills developed from her days in Public Relations, where she pitched stories to national print and television media.
Ms. Cassano received her J.D. from Southwestern University School of Law in 2000. In addition to numerous extracurricular activities, she competed in a National Moot Court competition as part of the Honors Program. Ms. Cassano was awarded 1st place Oralist from a field of 280 competitors in the Intramural Competition. She put her skills to work doing pro bono hearings before Administrative Law Judges, even before graduation, and was successful in getting awards for her clients.
Ms. Cassano served as a full-time extern to the Honorable Kim McLane Wardlaw, at the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, where she was honored that the Judge allowed her to draft several opinions. Her Ninth Circuit experience gave Ms. Cassano the insight into how very important it is to make complete and thorough record.
Just prior to joining the firm, Ms. Cassano was awarded a fellowship with the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), where she was able to observe and work with the finest trial lawyers in the country, at both a defense firm and a plaintiff's firm, before being placed with Superior Court Judge, the Honorable Richard Wolfe. The fellowship experience has been invaluable, as it allowed Ms. Cassano to quickly adapt to the practice of litigation and to appreciate the different pressures that shape litigation from both the defense's and plaintiff's perspective, as well as from the bench.
