Colleen Cassady St. Clair Colleen Cassady St. Clair, a native of Edmonton, is currently an assistant professor at the University of Alberta. Colleen pursued an M.Sc at the University of Canterbury, in Christchurch, New Zealand, studying the breeding biology of the little-known Fiordland crested penguin. Enthralled with the marvels and oddities of penguins, Colleen continued to a Ph.D by studying royal and rockhopper penguins on sub-Antarctic Macquarie Island and the Falkland Islands with the unlikely base of the University of Oklahoma.
Now back in Alberta, she teaches behavioural ecology and conservation biology, mainly studying the way animals, ranging from wolves to mice, move in terrestrial habitats that have been fragmented by humans. She retains an interest in seabirds and has recently examined the effects of climate change on tufted puffins breeding on the coast of British Columbia. -
