Immediately after school he joined the United States Marine Corps during World War II where he served in Guadalcanal. Following his discharge, he returned to Coffeyville where he remained until his retirement. On March 31, 1947 he married Wanda Elizabeth Townsend in Coffeyville. Mrs. Cass worked as a department store sales clerk. He was employed by Skinner Funeral Home as a funeral director before becoming employed by Farmland, where he was an operator, retiring after 35 years in 1983. Upon retirement, Mr. Cass moved to Grove, Okla., living on Grand Lake O' the Cherokees. In 2000 he moved to Houston, Texas and returned to Coffeyville in June of 2002. His wife preceded him in death on March 25, 2002 in Texas. Mr. Cass was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Grove, and Buster Brown Masonic Lodge of Wichita, Kan. He enjoyed water skiing, boating, fishing and gardening.
