    At about 1:46 p.m. on Thursday, Town of Beloit Officer Allen Cass heard a call on the scanner from City of Beloit police reporting a car chase accompanied by gunshots.

    As Cass drove across the bridge at Newark Road, he saw a vehicle speeding after another car.

    The car being chased flashed its lights at Cass and turned into the parking lot of the Town of Beloit Fire Department at the corner of Afton Road and Newark Road.

    Cass pulled into the parking lot behind the fleeing vehicle and the occupants pointed out the car from which the shots allegedly had been fired.

    Cass chased the vehicle as it continued at a high rate of speed east on Newark Road toward Highway 51.
