Co-Founder, Director Emeritus
One of Second Youth's three original founders, Rod Caspers graduated from Illinois State University and earned an MFA from The University of Texas at Austin. He has taught and directed at the University of Northern Iowa, the University of Wisconsin and has served on the faculty in the Department of Theatre and Dance at The University of Texas.
Mr. Caspers conducts directing workshops throughout the nation and serves as a guest artist/instructor for the Facing History and Ourselves Program in Zurich, Switzerland. While living in New York Rod served as Associate Director for GreenPlays, creating and directing several new musicals and cabarets. He has directed over seventy productions including Das Barbecue, Working, Merrily We Roll Along, Lies and Legends, Pippin, Close Ties, Shirley Valentine, Once On this Island, In the Heart of America, Tintypes, Big River and 'Night Mother, The Good Times Are Killing Me, The Diary of Anne Frank and Ordinary People. He last worked with Second Youth in 2001, directing Really Rosie. -
