   In 1936 , Jack A. Casper -- the son of European immigrants and a graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Law -- started a solo practice in an office in the First National Bank Building in downtown Middletown. He was soon joined by his brother , I. A. , who also graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Law. Together , the brothers ran a general practice , handling cases in a variety of areas such as divorce , probate , personal injury , and workers' compensation. The firm continued to prosper , and I. A. kept Casper & Casper running while Jack served in World War II in the Air Corps. Through Jack and I. A. , Casper & Casper maintained an active role in the Middletown community. For example , in 1973 , I. A. Casper established the Alex and Lena Casper Memorial Lecture Series at Miami University's Middletown campus , so that area citizens would have the opportunity to hear prominent lecturers on topics involving social issues and current events. Both Jack and I. A. also served as leaders for several.
   
   organizations. I. A. was president of the Butler County Bar Association from 1950-51 , and was a member of the Ohio State Bar Association public relations committee from 1951-53.

   Jack served as president of the Middletown Bar Association from 1946-47 , and was president of the Butler County Bar Association from 1962-63. In the meantime , Casper & Casper had become one of the top workers' compensation firms in the Middletown area. Moreover , by the late 1960's , the firm had reached a point where it was ready to welcome the next generation of the Casper family.
