In 1936 , Jack A. Casper -- the son of European immigrants and a graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Law -- started a solo practice in an office in the First National Bank Building in downtown Middletown. He was soon joined by his brother , I. A. , who also graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Law. Together , the brothers ran a general practice , handling cases in a variety of areas such as divorce , probate , personal injury , and workers' compensation. The firm continued to prosper , and I. A. kept Casper & Casper running while Jack served in World War II in the Air Corps. Through Jack and I. A. , Casper & Casper maintained an active role in the Middletown community. For example , in 1973 , I. A. Casper established the Alex and Lena Casper Memorial Lecture Series at Miami University's Middletown campus , so that area citizens would have the opportunity to hear prominent lecturers on topics involving social issues and current events. Both Jack and I. A. also served as leaders for several.
