Little Kanawha Area Rural Health Education Partnerships (RHEP) would like to welcome Chad Caskey to our area. He is currently attending Mountain State University in Beckley as a third year Physical Assistant (PA) student and plans on graduating in May 2004.
PA students, as well as all Health Sciences students, are required to complete rural rotations before being able to graduate. RHEP places students in hospitals, clinics, retail establishments, and private offices, with preceptors to fulfill their rotation requirements. Chad will be working with Dr. Hande at Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center (MHHCC), and is also scheduled to spend a some time with Ruth Ann Full, PA at Coplin Clinic in Elizabeth.
...
Chad is originally from McDowell County and graduated from Mt. View High School in Welch, WV. The program director for Mountain State University chose MHHCC as Chad's rotation site because of past successful student rotations.

While on rotation, Chad will also complete many community service activities. These activities will service many local elementary schools. On Wednesday, May 21 Chad did a TAR WARS presentation at Smithville Elementary. TAR WARS is a state-wide anti-tobacco program geared toward younger children. Chad also spoke at two different Ritchie County Elementary Schools regarding poison prevention. He will also be attending the annual Wirt County Heritage Day on May 30th in Elizabeth, where RHEP will set up an anti- tobacco display. Finally, on Thursday, June 5 he'll be monitoring the skin analyzer at the St. Marys Senior Center Health Fair. Every RHEP student is required to do community service as part of their rural rotation. It provides a valuable service to the community and gives the student a chance to get acquainted with the area and the residents.
After graduation Chad plans to continue living in Beckley and hopes to find a job somewhere close to home. Chad will be in Grantsville until June 24th, so if you see him please make him feel welcome into our community. -
