I disapprove of the Treaty, but I would approve of it if the following changes occurred: The cost of the settlement is inordinate compared to the number of people affected by the treaty. The cash settlement is not justified if the Canadian and BC governments are required to maintain ongoing transfer payments. The loss of Indian Act tax exemption should be immediate as well if transfer payments are made from the BC and federal government. I'm not sure what the settlement is meant to compensate. If it's related to past problems, etc. then it should apply equally to Nisga'a in the area and those who have moved away.
