Tracye Cashman
Tracye Cashman has enjoyed a diverse career in education. Graduating as a Commerce teacher, majoring in Accounting, she taught in state high schools for seven years before taking time out to raise children. Returning part time to the workforce, she worked with Sarina Russo at The Office, gaining an insight into the private provider market.
In 1988, Tracye took up the challenge of establishing new strategies in education at Alexandra Hills Senior College, working to enable students to gain opportunities in both vocational and general education. During this time, she was co-ordinator of Co-operative Programs, and facilitated the Jobskills tender for the College.
In 1992, Tracye moved to VETEC (Vocational Education Training and Employment Commission), later working on the review of recognition of training practices in Queensland. In 1996 she received a Public Sector Australia Day Award for her contribution to that review and the establishment of guidelines for the accreditation of courses and registration of providers.
Tracye moved to North Point Institute of TAFE as Head of Faculty, Business and Commerce and was responsible for the implementation of online learning strategies and the establishment of the Electronic Learning Centre. In 1998 she gained the position of Business Director at Southbank Institute of TAFE, responsible for the Faculties of E-Technology, and Printing and Graphic Arts, as well as Institute responsibility for Quality Assurance and Data Management. Tracye facilitated the development of the Diploma in E-Commerce, the first to be offered in Queensland, and was involved in establishing relationships with international organizations, in particular, Shanghai Second Polytechnic University, where the Diploma in International Business is offered to students in China facilitated by Southbank Institute.
Tracye returned to Education Queensland in 2001, acting as Principal at Toowong College. She was appointed Principal of Varsity College in January 2002. Tracye continues to have a strong interest in multimedia, online learning, and international business. She is currently completing a Masters in Business Administration.
