James Eugene "Gene" Cashman
James Eugene "Gene" Cashman, 83, Canton, died at 6:25 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, in Heartland Health Care Center, Canton.
He was born Feb. 25, 1920, in East Moline, the son of W. Everett and Grace R. (Magill) Cashman. He married Virginia "Jinny" Daniels March 1, 1941, in Keokuk, Iowa. She survives.
He is also survived by one sister, Margaret E. (Larry) Eilers, Augusta. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He worked at Brown, Lynch, & Scott Hardware and later worked for Andrews Furniture from 1943 to 1986 where he then worked for the Oaks-Hines Funeral Home all of Canton. He was of the Methodist Faith. He was a member of the Morning Star lodge #734, a 50 year member of the Modern Woodman of America, a past Canton Alderman and city Council member. He was past member of the odd fellows and Rebekah Lodge.
