    GREENSBORO -- Kay Cashion, a business owner known for her work with charities and the Democratic Party, will replace Jeff Thigpen on the Guilford County Board of Commissioners.

    Cashion, 70, owns Cashion's Furniture & Decorating and is recognized by party stalwarts as a good fund-raiser and campaign organizer.She has never held public office before.

    She will represent District 6, which covers southwest Greensboro, and will be part of a 7-4 Democratic majority on the board that is sworn in Dec. 6.
