KATHRYN KARRH CASHIN, Ph.D.

Kathryn Cashin has been a devoted member of The Tallahassee Ballet staff since 1985.Besides choreographing and staging a major portion of the Ballet's Nutcracker, including the First Act Party Scene and Kingdom of Snow, she has delighted Tallahassee audiences with favorites such as Romance in F, Notturno, Bolero, Sonata and the ever popular children's ballet, Madeline.She has also choreographed the full-length productions of A Midsummer Night's Dream, Cinderella, Copp,lia and The Sleeping Beauty for the Tallahassee Ballet.Her works have also been performed in Ireland and Pennsylvania.
Ms. Cashin has also restaged several ballets from classical repertoire including Raymonda Variations and Paquita.Ms. Cashin choreographed thirteen of Florida State Opera's works including La Perichole, The Merry Wives of Windsor, Patience, Rigoletto, and Massenet's Cinderella.
As a Principal Dancer in the Ballet, Ms. Cashin originated the roles of the Columbine Doll, Snow Queen, and most notably the Arabian pas de deux in The Tallahassee Ballet's first production of the full-length The Nutcracker.She was featured in Joyce Straub's highly acclaimed Iolite and Richard Sias's Simple Symphony.
Ms. Cashin holds a BA in Russian/Business, MA in Slavic and East European Studies and most recently earned a PhD in humanities.
Ms. Cashin, a former president of Junior League of Tallahassee and graduate of Leadership Tallahassee, serves on the Leadership Council of FSU's College of Arts and Sciences and the Florida Committee for the National Museum for Women in the Arts.
