They were told to provide resumes, however, Cashin was the only one who did, according to discussions at Monday night's meeting.

Foster's letter also informed individual councilmembers that they could send letters of recommendation to the judge concerning Cashin.

As for Cashin, she told the Rocket-Courier this week that she volunteered for the post out of concern for the community."I felt someone needed to step forward and volunteer," she said.

A counselor at Guthrie Health Service's Behavioral Science Center for Outpatient Mental Health Therapy in Sayre, Cashin holds a master's degree from Marywood College.She's also a counselor with Guthrie's Employee Assistance Program.

Cashin grew up in Buffalo, NY and currently resides on Wyalusing's Fifth Street.

Cashin said after being appointed, her top priority will be to learn the job."I hope to learn about the interests and concerns of the community," she said."This is a great community, with a wonderful natural beauty.I hope to be able to help it continue to grow and prosper."
