Mr. Cash then returned to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to complete his Bachelor of Arts degree. He was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. After graduation, he became a manufacturer's representative in the furniture industry.
He was married in 1952 to Dorothy Ann Pitts of Florence, Ala. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2002. They have three sons. The family moved to Jackson, Miss., in 1966.
Mr. Cash was an avid tennis player, lettering at UNC. He achieved several southern rankings as a senior. A two-time recipient of the Nolan Touchstone Memorial Award by the Southern Tennis Association, he was inducted into the Tennis Foundation of Mississippi Hall of Fame in 1993.
He was also a supporter of African wildlife, especially cheetahs. He made two trips to Kenya and Tanzania to view wildlife. Mr. Cash served as a docent at the Jackson Zoological Park for more than 10 years and was named Docent of the Year in 2000.
He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Jackson. He also enjoyed traveling, bird watching and raising roses. He and wife, Ann, moved to Austin, Texas, in 2000.
Mr. Cash was preceded in death by two brothers, Hadley Cash and George Cash.
