(AgapePress) - Carla Cash is proving that just one individual's efforts to uphold morality and decency in America can spark similar actions from many.Cash, a morally conservative talk show host with WRVA in Richmond, Virginia, did everything in her power to have a pornographic billboard on Interstate 95 removed. The billboard displayed a naked boy with his genitalia fully exposed.
"I found it offensive. It's demoralizing to children," Cash says."Depicting a baby in that explicit manner reeks of child pornography to me.We arrest people for the distribution of child pornography on the Internet or in photographs."
"I don't feel using paint and calling it art should give anyone a pass," she says.
...
Cash took to the airwaves, asking her audience for their thoughts on the billboard.
"I found that my audience agreed with my position," she said. She was flooded with phone calls and e-mail messages from outraged listeners. After extensive research, Cash learned the billboard was an ad for 64 Magazine, a non-profit publication designed to highlight the arts in Virginia. She also discovered that Ukrop's Supermarkets had a major role in the magazine's start-up.
A brief comment on her Saturday morning program prompted calls from two Ukrop family members, including one who serves on the board of directors of 64.Just recently, Cash was happy to announce that with the prompting of the Ukrops, the magazine has agreed to have the billboard removed.
"I believe they understood and appreciated my position.I commend the Ukrops and 64 for their commitment to decency and the family," she said."Their willingness to stand up for morality speaks well of them all.And I am extremely proud of my audience for standing up for what they believe in."
Cash claims the billboard's removal is a victory for all who believe in morality, decency, and dignity.
"This should serve as concrete evidence that speaking out and standing up do indeed make a difference for the better," she says.
