Casey earns state award
HARVEY - Steven Casey of Harvey has been honored by the Michigan Water Environment Association with its annual James R. Rumsey Award.
This award is presented for the best paper describing work in the field of sewage or industrial waste treatment.
Casey is Upper Peninsula district supervisor for the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality Water Bureau.
For the past eight years he has been responsible for drinking water, storm water, wastewater and environmental health programs. Prior to this position, he was the environmental engineer for the DEQ for 17 years.
Casey is licensed as a professional engineer. He graduated from Wayne State University with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and from the University of Michigan with a master's degree in water resources and environmental engineering.
