Richard is a litigation associate who concentrates his practice in various commercial and complex litigation matters, including business torts, securities, trademark and copyright infringement, civil appeals, NLRB disputes, civil RICO, ERISA, product liability, employment discrimination, commercial contract and fraudulent transfer issues. Plaintiff sought relief for alleged violations of the Lanham Act, including trademark and trade dress claims relating to motorized racing carts. Aside from the Lanham Act claims there were trade secret, unfair competition and tortious interference with business relations claims. Plaintiff sought damages in excess of $ 1, 000, 000. Successfully defended all claims at the injunction stage and the case was settled during the discovery stage of litigation. Obtaining a defense verdict while representing a National Hockey League player against a federal lawsuit in Ohio which involved claims relating to injuries sustained by another player in the course of a game.

Richard earned an A.B. in Politics from Princeton University in 1988, and was awarded a Princeton-in-Asia Fellowship to teach English in Trang, Thailand. He graduated from the University of Dayton School of Law in 1993, where he was a member of the Law Review Board and author of Ohio's New Living Will Statute : Will It Survive?, published in 17 U. Dayton L. Rev. 1089 (Spring 1992), and he received the Academic Achievement Award for Commercial Drafting. Richard was also a member of the Philip C. Jessup International Moot Court Team and currently sits on the University of Dayton School of Law Alumni Board of Trustees.
