   At the August meeting of the Executive Committee, SAANYS President Alene Abrams announced that, after a summer of careful consideration and review, current Deputy Executive Director Kevin S. Casey has been selected to assume the position of executive director as of September 1, 2006.

   Casey came to SAANYS in September of 2000 as chief counsel and was charged with heading up the SAANYS team of attorneys and negotiators.Using his extensive experience in public sector labor law and collective bargaining negotiations, Casey brought SAANYS´ legal and labor relations services to new levels.His leadership and dedication to quality service and representation were soon acknowledged as he was promoted to the position of SAANYS associate executive director and then to deputy executive director in October 2002.In these capacities, his responsibilities expanded to include oversight of SAANYS´ legislative and lobbying efforts.Casey also became the primary liaison between SAANYS and other educational advocacy groups at both the state and national levels.

   Kevin currently resides in the Capital District with his wife Sandra and their three daughters.He received his bachelor´s degree in political science from SUNY Brockport and his juris doctor degree from George Mason University School of Law in Arlington, Virginia.
