Kevin Casey was born in New York City and raised on Long Island , New York. He received a bachelor's degree in Psychology at Fordham University in New York City in 1988. He then served as a street outreach counselor at the youth homeless shelter Covenant House California , driving a van through the streets of Los Angeles for eight to twelve hours a night offering food , shelter and access to medical care to runaway and homeless youths.
In 1991 , Kevin Casey's direct-mail fundraising book , CHILDREN OF EVE , was published by Covenant House. Children of Eve relates experiences from his work with young people on the streets of Los Angeles , and particularly Hollywood , a Mecca for the runaways and homeless youths of North America.
Children of Eve raised over $1 million for the homeless shelter Covenant House in 1992 and 1993. After the success of the book , Kevin Casey served as Coordinator of Community Education with the agency. In this position , he traveled throughout Southern California delivering interactive runaway prevention presentations to youths in public schools , private schools and community groups.
In June of 1993 , Kevin Casey received a master's degree in Education from the University of California , Santa Barbara. In 1994 , he returned to New York and served as director of alumni relations at a college on Long Island and director of development an AIDS program serving HIV-positive injection drug users in the Bronx borough of New York City.
Kevin Casey is now a United States Navy journalist. He is operations manager at American Forces Network , Sasebo , Japan. Before assuming his current responsibilities , he served television news director at the broadcast detachment , overseeing production of nightly news for the Sasebo American military community. He also served as department head for AFN's Thunder Radio 1575 AM , coordinating 24 hours of news and entertainment programming daily , including multiple satellite feeds from the United States and forty live radio hours each week. In January of 1999 , Kevin Casey was selected Naval Media Center Bluejacket of the Quarter from a pool of Navy broadcast journalists stationed throughout the world.
