Kevin Casey, the Emmy-nominated editor of "ER," started out as an assistant on "thirtysomething" and later moved up to editor in the last two seasons of the show's run. He then edited the one-hour drama "Homefront," about several intertwined families dealing with World War II and the returning soldiers. After two seasons, the network canceled the show and Casey went to work on "Sisters" for NBC. He edited the show for the last of its three years and ultimately came to "ER," which needed a third editor to lessen the heavy production schedule. Casey has had four jobs in 11 years, where other editors might have four jobs in one year. He'll chalk it up to good luck and being able to work on successful shows, but with four Emmy nominations in as many years, he must be doing something right. Casey won the Emmy in his category when winners of the Crafts Emmy Awards were announced Aug. 27 in a ceremony at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, which will air on HBO Plus.

As far as editing, is there a certain "style" to "ER" to which you try to contribute? I think every episode has a different style. My editing style is based on the film that is placed before me.
