Attorney Dan Casas, who represents Table Mountain, said in an interview that the latest lawsuit still is being reviewed by the rancheria's legal team and he could not comment specifically.
"What I can say, preliminarily, is that the lawsuit is unfounded," Casas said, adding that it appears to be another version of a federal complaint that was filed two years ago in Sacramento challenging the government to enforce Table Mountain's constitution regarding membership.

Casas, the Table Mountain lawyer, says the tribe has dramatically increased membership in recent years and has an enrollment process "which a lot of the plaintiffs do not want to go through" but instead are trying to circumvent.
Casas says that the Bureau of Indian Affairs has to certify whether someone has one-quarter or more of Indian blood.
