In 1990 Aida began her work with second language learners as a member of the Language and Cultural Affairs Program for the Department of Education and University of Vermont under a Title VI Grant program.She provided teaching materials to ESL teachers and administrator as well as support and materials for culturally sensitivity trainings.She was part of the team that developed a manual for the Vermont Department of Education Guidelines for providing appropriate and adequate Services for NELB students.She helped identify cultural information for Folk Life Center book on cultural groups in Vermont.Currently, Aida is a member of the New Hampshire Department of Education Quilt Project (Cultural Competence Planning Group), a member of the New Hampshire Diversity Task Force, Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health; a member of the Cultural Leadership Team for Developmental Disability Program; an Executive Board Member of SESAS (Substance Abuse and Alcohol Program for Spanish speakers), as well as chair a Latino Mental Health Advisory Board group.
