Dan Carver

Dan Carver, Member, Oregon Board of Agriculture Dan Carver owns and operates Imperial Stock Ranch where he produces cattle, sheep, grains, and hay on 32,000 acres.Dan is a native Oregonian and a graduate of OSU.He participated in Buck Hollow Watershed Conservation Project which is the fore bearer of today's watershed councils.Currently he sits on both ODA and OWEB Boards and is proud of the success he has had with conservation efforts in direct marketing and agri-tourism.

It was a new organizational chart put together by our year-round intern, Dan Carver.Dan, affectionately known as "Dano," has been with us for three summers as a counselor.After last summer, he stayed on to fulfill a 15-month internship program in over-all camping ministry.

Many interns specialize in one area of camping, such as marketing, program, or food service.Dan wanted to see the over-all picture and gain a vision for the ministry that camping can be in our over-stressed world.

I've watched him through the months as he's grown, not only in knowledge of what "camp's all about," but in the ability to express his thoughts to those in management without fear of being wrong.And you know what?Most of the time, he's right.

Most internships cover a multitude of things: actual work experience, learning how to manage various people, learning how to put together programs or processes, and doing projects related to their area of expertise.Dan has interviewed all the managers here at Warm Beach Camp and has come up with some observations that are insightful and have direct bearing on the work of that department.

Dan has given structure to the internship through his evaluation of what an intern should be and do.

Dan owns and operates the Imperial Stock Ranch. He said he serves on the board in order to "help make decisions that will enhance natural resources and aid the sustainability of rural Oregon."  In the past, Dan has been involved with the Wasco County Soil and Water Conservation District and with OWEB-funded watershed partnerships in Buck Hollow and Bakeoven. Currently, Dan serves on the Oregon Board of Agriculture board and chairs the marketing committee. He has been involved in several direct marketing endeavors and frequently supports charity events. Dan holds a bachelor's degree from Oregon State University.
