Cathy Cartwright is the Director of Religious Education for Children at First Unitarian Church in Portland, Oregon and has been a member of LREDA for almost 20 years. In October 2007 she achieved the status of Credentialed Religious Educator. Cathy has been a grassroots organizer and graphic artist where she gained strength working in community. Cathy is a storyteller extraordinaire and regularly offers her gifts to gatherings. She currently serves as a consultant to the Pacific Northwest District.

  About Cathy Cartwright:
  
  Cathy Cartwright,CRE, has been a part of the staff at First Unitarian Church since 2004.Previously she was the Director of Religious Education (Life-Long Learning) for East Shore Unitarian Church in Bellevue, WA. Cathy's formal education is in fine arts and she also has extensive training and experience in community work, including Vista.Recently she obtained the title of Credentialed Religious Educator.Cathy works, alongside Dana Regan, with the Religious Education committee to provide leadership and oversight for the Learning Community for children.

  Cathy is also active within the denomination, serving as a Good Officer for the Liberal Religious Educators Assocation, and an ongoing consultant for the Pacific Northwest District.

  Cathy has been a religious educator for almost 20 years, though she began her journey toward this calling long before.In the 1970s Cathy was part of a collective called "The Dayton Community Media Workshop" or Media House.The collective included activitists who used alternative media (including public radio) as a means for social change.It was there that Cathy began to understand the art of facilitation and collaboration.During that same time she worked as a VISTA volunteer for Dayton Women Working, a non-profit that served to educate and advocate for the rights of women in the workforce.In 1989 Cathy was asked to be the interim coordinator for the Princeton Unitarian Congregation and found her calling.Since that time she has served as Lifespan Director for East Shore Unitarian Church, Bellevue, WA, as Good Offices Representative for the Liberal Religious Educators Association, and as a consultant for the Pacific Northwest District.Cathy has been with First Unitarian Church since 2004.
