PSA board member Mary Rae Carter said that was not the case, though. The supervisors made the proposals to suggest cost savings and the improvement of efficiency, she said.
"We need to look at every possible way we can save money," she said."This is a viable solution."
...
Carter said because the PSA is smaller than it used to be, it would be better served by contracting these services to the county than paying two salaries on its own.
"Right now, the financial situation of the PSA is not what it was," she said."I don't know that the PSA needs to pay someone to do this (accounting services) anymore."
The proposal to combine the jobs of human resources director and public information officer, held by Tim Hall until he was named deputy county administrator, will cut into the savings achieved by the first proposal, Summerlin said.
It is not known how much, but the salary for the newly created position will have to be increased to recruit someone who can do both jobs, he said.
