Blue then started his own canoeing school, called Canoeing Instructors Inc. and worked with Mary for 10 years.In addition to the school, Blue and Mary co-led "The Waluta Paddlers," a Camp Fire Boys and Girls canoe club and taught canoeing at Camp Waluta in the summers.After Blue's death in 2002, Canoeing Instructors, Inc. was renamed Shawl Canoe School in his memory.
Co-Founder & Instructor Mary CarterMary has been an American Red Cross Lifeguard for 8 years, a canoeing instructor for 10 years, an instructor trainer for 6 years and a Water Safety Instructor for 9 years.She worked for 11 years as Program Coordinator for The Southeast Texas Camp Fire Council, Inc.In the summers she was Water Front Director and Canoeing Instructor at Camp Waluta, in addition to co-leading "The Waluta Paddlers", a Camp Fire canoe club.When on dry land, Mary is a Medication Aide at an area nursing home.
