Meanwhile , the regulation question continues to rumble through the New Zealand telecoms industry.Telecom NZ has welcomed the prospect of an unregulated industry but Clear attacked a decision by the government not to provide some form of regulation for the country's telecoms sector.Clear has long wanted an industry regulator after its protracted battle to get an interconnection agreement with Telecom NZ , an issue it had to pursue at great expense through the courts and negotiations with the state-owned carrier. It seems that the eventual settlement of that issue four months ago removed any urgency in the government's mind to provide an industry referee.
