Christine Carney joined NJSBA as a lobbyist on March 12, 2001.Christine was formerly the manager of governmental relations and strategic initiatives for the New Jersey Department of Education where she analyzed and prepared Department of Education policy on education legislation.Christine was also a field representative for the Governor's Office and worked in the office of the Speaker of the New Jersey General Assembly.
THE STATE LEGISLATURE
NJSBA lobbied on a number of issues in the month of March including the following bills:
Labor Issues Campaign NJSBA spearheaded a statewide effort to defeat three pieces of legislation that would negatively impact on school districts.Boards across the state were asked to pass resolutions opposing A-2231/S-1126 (subcontracting), A-1299/S-1153 (automatic increments) and A-3049/S-1923 (paid family leave).
