Deputy Marco Cantu has served with the Harris County Sheriff's Department for 16 year.
He is a husband and father to three young boys.
Cantu is an active member of New Hope Church where he serves as an usher.
Marco Cantu is currently serving as an Investigator with the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
On September 17, 2007 one of Marco Cantu's worst nightmare came true when his 5 year old son got struck by a minivan and thrown over 30 feet.
The impact caused a femur fracture and complete break.
He was transported to Clear-Lake Regional Hospital for treatment.
After evaluation he was then transported to Texas Children's Hospital due to the severity of his injuries.
Marco's son under went surgery having a bone reset and (2) Ten inch rods into his bone marrow for stabilization.
He was hospitalized for six days after the surgery.
Upon release, he was confined to a wheel chair for several weeks due to limited mobility.
With intensive physical therapy, he transitioned to a two-hand walker, and subsequently to a single hand walking cane.
On December of 2007 he was re-admitted to Texas Children's Hospital for a second surgery.
