"What we do here," said principal Linda Cantu, "must be reinforced at home if we are to be successful."
And, Cantu added, her students are successful.
"A majority of the students we have here go on to take advanced placement courses and traditionally make better grades," she said.
Students at OLPH are graded on an accelerated learning scale, and anything below an 85 is a C.
"The state says that 70 percent of 100 is passing," Cantu."When you aim high the students do as well."
Cantu said the school attempts to keep track of all of its students until they graduate. She said by giving the children the tools they need to stay more focused and providing parents with valuable suggestions along the way, they are able to provide a better education for their students.
While their methods may be somewhat unorthodox, Cantu said they must try everything they can to ensure their students succeed.
