   Vincent Cannato is a writer-producer currently working on the three-hour PBS special The First Measured Century hosted by Ben Wattenberg. He received his Ph.D. in American history from Columbia University. He has written for the Wall Street Journal, Weekly Standard, and the New Republic. His book, John Lindsay's New York and the Crisis of Liberalism, will be published in the Winter of 2001 by Basic Books. A former managing editor of The Public Interest, he is also an adjunct fellow at the Hudson Institute.
