Sergeant Ronald J. Cannatella was a dedicated member of the New Orleans Police Department for over 29 years. He joined NOPD with a love for police work, having his father (who retired with over 45 years of service), and his brother (now an active Lieutenant with over 30 years of service) already a member, and another brother with the Harbor Police. Throughout his career he was extremely compassionate, and while a member of the Juvenile Bureau, organized and became the first commander of the Child Abuse Unit. His love was further demonstrated with the conception, hard work, and then the reality of the NOPD Commemorative Album which began with the birth of New Orleans in 1718 and depicting the history of the New Orleans Police Department through 1984. The second album continued from 1984 through 1994.
