    SYRACUSE - Memorial service for Marjorie Marie Reed Cannady, 86, will be 2 p.m. MST Tuesday at First Christian Church, Syracuse, with the Rev. Mike Lewis officiating. Graveside inurnment service will be 11 a.m. CST April 13 in Hartford Cemetery, Hartford.

    Mrs. Cannady died Friday, March 29, 2002, at Hamilton County Hospital in Syracuse.

    She was born Sept. 17, 1915, at Sterling, the daughter of Earnest Delosse "E.D." and Grace Rue Bell Reed. When she was 2, the family moved to Keenesburg, Colo. In 1933, she graduated from Prospect Valley High School, a rural country school in Weld County, Colo.

    In 1934, she moved to Coolidge where she worked at a local gas station during the Depression. While living in Hartford from 1940 to 1979, she attended Emporia Beauty School in Emporia, graduating in 1941. She then worked at the creamery in Ottawa, on a milk route hauling 13 cans. From 1945 to 1975, she was a bookkeeper for Kansas Soya Products Elevator in Hartford. In 1979, she moved to Las Cruces, N.M. She moved to Syracuse in 1988 to be near her family. She became a resident of Hamilton County Extended Care Facility in Syracuse this year.

    Mrs. Cannady was a member of First Christian Church of Syracuse. She enjoyed visiting with her friends at the nursing home, doing jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, reading, crocheting, letter writing, traveling in a motor home to and from Yuma, Ariz., and collecting red bird figurines.

    On Jan. 21, 1952, she married Loren Herrelson at Bentonville, Ark. He died in August 1972. On July 23, 1979, she married Ransom Cannady at Parsons. He died in February 1988. She was also preceded in death by her parents.

    She is survived by two stepchildren, Pete Cannady and Marie Howard, both of Albuquerque, N.M.; a brother, Eldon Delosse "Bub" Reed, Syracuse; a nephew; a niece; and several stepgrandchildren and cousins.

    There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of Greene-Fellers Funeral Home & Monuments, Box 1253, Syracuse, KS 67878.
