Nigel will send you a colour sketch before stonecutting is started and the completed work is usually ready within four weeks. These beautiful sculptures are delivered and installed by Nigel, he travels all over the country. An expert at carefully moving and positioning his works, he moves them over lawns with trolley and planks and then concretes them into position. Nigel also creates multiple stones, stone circles and aligned monoliths for larger gardens and commercial / industrial "grand entrances". Nigel is a professional with many years of experience and he has lived and worked creatively in the Forest of Dean for 25 years. -

I managed to secure the help of a local sculptor, Nigel Cann, who specializes in the use of natural materials. He sculpts from his home in the Forest of Dean, with his wife, dog and eleven chickens for company!
In the past Nigel has made leaf and bark collages, and sculpture using thorns and thistles. More recently, he has discovered moss covered rocks and has made a series of pieces with moss stripes and patterns.
It was only when a fellow artist recently donated some stained glass off-cuts, that Nigel had the inspiration for his latest creations. Using a combination of drills, cutters and chisels, he cuts rectangular windows into the rock. Into these windows he inserts stained glass sections, these look especially good when back-lit, reminiscent of the light streaming in through the stained glass of a cathedral.
A Rocking Show We selected two huge rocks for the sculptures, one of which stands almost eight feet high! Once completed, they will be delivered to the Showground, where they will undoubtedly provide a striking backdrop.
My intention is to fit a series of lights behind the stained glass. Hopefully, shimmering coloured light will reflect in the water of the pond.
