Cann, brings a fresh approach to the paper "I am very excited about being here in Revelstoke at this particular point in time," she said in an interview Thursday. "The city is really going to grow and develop and I want the newspaper to grow and develop along with it. The most important thing for me is that we must be seen as the voice of the community. Born and bred in Nakusp, Cann was publisher of the Arrow Lakes News in that community for four years and will continue as publisher of that paper, although she will remain in Revelstoke. Her roots extend beyond simply being born in this region. Her father worked on the Mica Dam and logged throughout the area before his death in 1998. Cann, too, worked in forestry, the retail industry and has lived not just in Nakusp but in Grand Forks, Mica and now Revelstoke, too
