Mario Canki received his PhD in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (1995). He is currently Associate Research Scientist at Columbia University and is the Principal Investigator for an ongoing National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke funded research project on the molecular mechanisms controlling HIV-1 replication in human astrocytes.
