A native of Chattanooga, TN, violinist Gloria Cangahuala (above right) joined the Santa Monica Symphony in 1998. Prior to joining the symphony, she was concertmaster of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Chamber Orchestra and assistant concertmaster of the MIT Symphony Orchestra. She also enjoys singing, and in a previous life was a second soprano in the Charlotte Choral Society and in Impromptu!, an a capella jazz vocal group, both based in Charlotte, NC. Also an accomplished pianist, Gloria plays in a number of chamber groups in the Los Angeles area as violinist or pianist.
